SILIKAL R71 MMA Flooring Topcoat
Extremely low-viscosity, colourless reactive hard methyl methacrylate (MMA) topcoat. Manufacturer documentation describes use over decorative hard coloured-flake or coloured-quartz main coats. It is a finish component, not a complete flooring system.

Where SILIKAL R71 fits in the floor
The topcoat seals a compatible decorative main coat and contributes to its wearing surface. The manufacturer describes hard curing, scratch resistance and low yellowing. Chemical compatibility still requires the actual chemicals, concentrations, temperatures, duration and cleaning regime.
R71 is described as extremely low viscosity. The manufacturer product overview describes colourless scratch-resistant sealing for decorative flakes and coloured quartz, primarily in dry areas. A broader industry listing is not approval for every wet process or chemical exposure.
Agree aggregate texture and topcoat coverage together. Do not transfer a main-coat thickness, slip class, fire classification or food-facility certificate to this resin without the exact complete-system evidence.
Application limits and cure planning
The published SILIKAL R71 English data sheet lists an application temperature of -5°C to +30°C. This is the product application field, not a service-temperature range or permission to install the whole floor at its lower limit.
The sheet does not label independent air, substrate and material temperature ranges. Record all three and confirm the project requirements, including moisture and condensation. For working time and hardening, use this resin’s own temperature-dependent BPO table; dosage is based on resin weight, not the total filled system.
Hardening is not automatically a foot-traffic, chemical-exposure or complete-floor reopening milestone. Agree layer sequencing, inspection and release criteria with the approved system supplier. Read the manufacturer product data sheet for the specific instructions.
Compatibility and installation requirements
Use the manufacturer-approved primer, main coat, aggregate and topcoat combination. Hard topcoats must not be applied directly over highly elastic main coats without the required compatible intermediate configuration. An existing coating needs compatibility and adhesion assessment before refurbishment.
Obtain current market-applicable SDS for all components and a site risk assessment. Plan ventilation, ignition-source control, PPE, storage and occupied-area separation before installation. No current Saudi SDS package, price or warranty is asserted here.
SILIKAL R71 versus the other topcoat
R71 and R72 are separate products with different viscosity descriptions and application ranges. Do not swap them merely because both are MMA topcoats. Is SILIKAL R71 a complete MMA flooring system?
No. It is a topcoat resin used within a compatible specified build. Preparation, primer, main coat, aggregates and details must also be defined.
Does the product name establish food-safe or chemical-proof performance?
No. Assess the complete system and exact exposure. Obtain the applicable certificate scope and chemical-resistance evidence; direct food contact must not be assumed.
Can R71 and R72 be exchanged in a specification?
Only with written manufacturer approval for the actual configuration. Different specification versions are not an interchangeable recipe.
